What Did You Call Me?

Does your family do strange things? You know, the things you are embarrassed to admit? Well, my family does, but I am not embarrassed to admit anything! I was thinking about what Lil Rooster would ask me about his/her nickname when the time comes.

Nicknames are a big deal in my family. Sure we have Ed, Matt, Mart, Kat, Jo and Jess. Those are fine when used in everyday conversation, but we have some doozies that only the family knows about. The thing about our nicknames is that they evolve over the years. You could have a nickname for a few years and just start to get used to it when BAM! out of the blue a sibling, niece or nephew calls you something different and it sticks. Girls tend to have more nicknames than the boys, but the boys have a few weird ones. Some were used just a few times, others a few years. Some still stick to this day.

There are the nicknames associated with your name:

Avadorable
JoJoBean
Marty Party/ Marty Farty when feeling particularly mean
Edward Sigfreid & Roy (a mouthful, but a fun mouthful)
Jeffy
Jeffers
Matt-choo
Panda
Eggward
Teddy Cat
Ed's Heather
Matt's Heather
Demanda
Benny-boo-boo-boo-boo (I am not sure how many boos go along with this one)
Katween
Theo-lo dough
Spam

The nicknames morphed from TV shows, books or movies:

Yohana you ugly (Johnny Lingo)
Mortimer Maximus (Hound of the Baskervilles)
Beautiful Gorgeous (Jimmy Neutron)
        which then morphed into Boots
Avadore (Alvin & the Chipmunks)

The nicknames associated with our last name:

Donbro
Lil Donbro
Dumbroad
Papa D

The most famous category- nicknames out of nowhere:

Paduka
Mighty Mouth
Burrito Sanchez
Paco Taco (or is it Taco Paco?)
Nebs
Doppler
Beaner
Turd
'Ca (pronounced Ka)
Krashin

So yeah, if you have a nickname, it means you are loved, even if the nickname sounds mean, it is always said with the highest reverence and love. So, Lil Rooster is nicknamed that for now. Actually, Lil Rooster already has several nicknames- Lil Rooster, Lil Hen (depending on what I think I am having at the moment), Prodigy and Junior. Only Daddy calls the baby Junior. He says he will feel so guilty if Junior turns out to be Lil Hen.

Ok - for the record - some people just don't have nicknames. Everyone loves my friend, Eric, but he was the giver of nicknames and never had his own :(

2nd - Where's flapjack?
Third - Avadore (or Avadora) was a mix of Ava and Mom's names
Fourth (last one) - The ORIGINAL 'Ca' came from Jessica and it was mine...you left one Thanksgiving and Lauryn got used to me and then suddenly we swapped and she doesn't even remember that one magically holiday where we were best friends.

Bitter? Maybe. :P

Oh D, she also forgot D and anything starting with the letter (Detox, Detriot...) and cosmic buddy. I think Burrito Sanchez is my favorite though.

P.S. Don't feel bad for Eric his last name is rad...haha
