Master planned community

Later on the same Sunday drive:

Jeff: So, Lauryn, I haven't heard about the little guys in a while.
Lauryn: They are building houses out of blocks.
Martha: What kind of houses?
Lauryn: I don't member.
Jeff: Do the little guys have friends?
Lauryn: Yes. There is Light, Tiki, and Brass Keef.
Martha: Brass Keef?
Lauryn: Blanch Keep
Jeff: Blanch Keep?
Lauryn: A tree has branches and branches have leaves. Branch Leaf.
Martha: Oh, Branch Leaf!
Lauryn: Yes. Beehive is not against making friends.
Martha: That's good. So, do these friends live in the houses that the little guys are building?
Lauryn: Branch Leaf lives in one house. But, everyone else is looking at houses. And Tigress' dad is building her a house.
Martha: Where did all these guys come from?
Lauryn: I don't member. Branch Leaf lives in a house.
Martha: So, they just showed up one day?
Lauryn: Yep.
Martha: Oh, look, Maple Leaf Lane. Is there a Maple Leaf? Maybe related to Branch Leaf?
Lauryn: (closes eyes and talks slower)No, Ka. Just Branch Leaf.
Martha: Can you tell Jeff how your dog Little Leaf Blanket got his name.
Jeff: Yes, Lauryn, how did he get his name?
Lauryn: I was...holding him. He was Little. I saw...a leaf...and a blanket.
Martha: Is that his first name or his whole name?
Lauryn: His...whole...name.
Martha: She's out.
Jeff: I hope we have a little girl with that much personality.

The little guys have a puppy

Me: So, what are the little guys doing now that they have finished their tower?
Lauryn: They got a puppy! (points to her dimples)
Me: Wow! What did they name the puppy?
Lauryn: (puts her hands over her nose) Um, little guys? Is it ok if I name your puppy? (falsetto voice) Sure, Lauryn.
(taps her chin) Um....my dimples said I could name the puppy. (holds out her hands) See? Um...I am going to name the puppy...Beehive!
Me: Can the puppy do tricks?
Lauryn: Yes.
Me: What kind of tricks?
Lauryn: Um....hold on, Ka. (runs out of the room to get her toy puppy, Lucky- who actually does tricks).
Then, we got distracted making Lucky do all of his tricks.

The Little Guys have parents

Me: Is that tower ever going to get finished?
Lauryn: They are almost done.
Devin: Do the blocks shoot out of your head?
Lauryn: (munches on her German pancake)
Me: You said every time you eat the tower falls down and you have to start over. They must have had to start over a lot.
Lauryn: Yes
Me: Where do they go when the blocks start to fall?
Lauryn: (Points to her toes) Down here. The blocks start falling and I say (in a falsetto voice) "Come on little guys, come down here to safety."
Me: Nice. So, they are safe.
Lauryn: Uh, huh.
Me: Do the little guys have parents?
Lauryn: Yes
Devin: Where do they live?
Lauryn: What?
Me: Where do they sleep?
Lauryn: In my eyes (points to her eyes)
Devin: Wow! They have a good view
Me: With a balcony. Do they ever come out on your lashes and watch the sunset?
Lauryn: Yes. But they fall out when I sleep, like this- Ahhhh!
Devin: Do they take showers when you cry?
Lauryn: Yes. (Closes her eyes)
Devin & Me: Oh, no!! They are are falling out!
Lauryn: Guys! Not when I close my eyes, only when the moon is out and I am asleep.
Me: Oh, that's good.
Lauryn: Can you see them hanging on? (Points to her cheek)
Me: I thought they didn't fall out when you closed your eyes.
Lauryn: They were climbing down to see the little guys and started to fall. Ahhhh!!

Jeff is shaking his head the whole time.

What do the little guys eat?

Me: Did the little guys finish their tower?
Lauryn: No, they are eating dinner?
Me: What do they eat?
Lauryn: PIG!
Me: Wow! A whole pig?
Lauryn: A pig that rolled around in the mud.
Me: Hmmm...
Lauryn: The little guys like mud. (puts her hands to her mouth like she is eating) The pig rolled around in the mud. Now leave me alone, I am writing other people's names, Ka.

The Little Guys are at it again

Today I asked Lauryn what the little guys were up to:

Me: What have the little guys been doing lately?
Lauryn: They are building a tower out of blocks.
Me: Really? Where?
Lauryn: In my tummy.
Me: How did they get down there?
Lauryn: They climbed in my mouth and down to my tummy.
Me: Did it tickle when they went down your throat?
Lauryn: A little.
Me: Can you feel them building the tower right now?
Lauryn: No.
Me: What happens when you eat?
Lauryn: They have to start building the tower again!
Me: Oh, wow!
Lauryn: Can you see them working right now? (opens mouth wide)
Me: Oh yes, they are working hard.
Lauryn: Let me see if your little guys are working...(long pause)...Ka! Open your mouth so I can see if your little guys are working.
Me: (opens mouth) Are they working?
Lauryn: Yep! I see them working.

You mean THESE little guys?

Lauryn and I are best buddies. We have a lot of fun together and she tells me some great stories. A couple of months ago we were laughing and talking while Heather did her hair. She smiled at me and I noticed the cutest little dimples right up by her nose. I said, "Lauryn, you have the cutest dimples." She smiled, pointed to the dimples and said, "You mean these little guys?" Heather and I had a pretty good laugh. I have called her dimples the "little guys" ever since.

Last night she came in to my room and wanted to hang out. I wasn't feeling the greatest and actually just wanted to curl up in my flannel sheets. I told her I was going to get ready for bed and she wanted to help. So, we went upstairs and I took out my contacts. She asked me what that was all about and the noticed the "L" on the contact case. "Hey! That's in my name!" Then, I got the toothpaste out of my drawer and Lauryn grabbed a toothbrush. After that, I was washing my face and she informed me that she was going to dry my face. When I was done, she took my towel and lightly brushed my face. I needed to dry it off a bit better, so I finished the job. This is the actual conversation from that point:

Lauryn: Um, Ka, you got water all over my face. (Dries face on towel).
Me: Sorry, Boots. How are the little guys?
Lauryn: They had umbrellas.
Me: So they are still dry?
Lauryn: Uh huh.
Me: Those little guys always come up with great ideas.
Lauryn: Yeah, and when I am asleep they climb out of my...uh...dimples and go to the top of my head and leave their good ideas, so when I wake up I have good ideas, too! (Jumps up and down)

That reminds me of another conversation:

Me: Are you a little girl or a mommy?
Lauryn: I am a little girl, but I used to be a mommy.
Me: Really? What happened?
Lauryn: I had a baby in my tummy, but it got out and climbed up my tummy and up my nose. When it got to my brain it pushed a button like this (pushes forehead) and my nose opened up and the baby climbed in.

See, I told you we had some pretty amazing conversations.
